Guide Dogs Sponsor a Puppy

Onyx Rehabilitation Ltd proudly support Guide Dogs by sponsoring puppies. Guide Dogs is a charity close to our hearts as Teresa was involved in puppy walking for Guide Dogs for many years and one of the puppies which she rehomed named Onyx is where the company name comes from.

Did you know that in 2022 nearly 100,000 people were told they were losing their sight? This kind of news can have a huge impact, both practically and emotionally. Through puppy sponsorship Guide Dogs are able to be there every step of the way for those who need, delivering life-changing services, advice, and support when it’s needed most.

We are currently sponsoring two lovely Guide Dog puppies Bonnie and Dexter. Our sponsored pups have been busy having new experiences and learning vital skills that will help them become future life-changers. Bonnie is currently still with her puppy raiser as unfortunately she had an accidental injury to her tail, and it had to be operated on to remove some of its length to help it heal. I’m pleased to say that Bonnie has recovered well from her operation and is learning to adapt to life with a shorter (but still very waggy) tail. This accident shouldn’t stop Bonnie from progressing and she is adapting well. Dexter has now moved to the next stage of his training and is progressing well at training school. He is now comfortable wearing the harness and can successfully guide his trainer to kerbs. Dexter is now busy learning the guiding routes in quiet locations to become familiar with the local areas and will progress on to busier locations with more distractions.
